Additional Parking and Camping information for Guttenberg
There are several options for long-term parking: South Parking for standard-sized vehicles only is going to be within walking distance from the dip-site; Lakeside parking, the largest and only lot able to accommodate larger, non-standard vehicles is 3 miles north of the dip-site and two smaller lots, also standard-sized vehicles only are near St. Mary’s Church ½ mile from the dip-site.
Vehicles that have not registered and just show up will be directed to the side, processed when time allows and charged more.
All parking lots will be open from Friday, July 18, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and again Saturday, July 19, 5 a.m. until the buses are gone. If you need long term parking and expect to arrive outside these hours, please contact us to make other arrangements.
Please register – we will have enough parking arranged for the registered vehicles – if we have a ton of unregistered vehicles that just show up, they’ll be parked a couple of miles out of town and we may be unable to facilitate shuttles back into town.
Guttenberg is small – we will be identifying streets for 1-way traffic and working with residents to keep streets clear. We don’t have many areas unaffected by RAGBRAI; therefore cars left on any street more than 24 hours will be ticketed and towed – please register and plan to park in the designated area.
If you have permission from a resident to park near their residence, place a paper on the dash with the resident’s address, name and phone number on it and leave the keys with the resident in case the vehicle should need to be moved. Only passenger vehicles can be parked near residences.
One all-new parking option being offered by RAGBRAI is car transport from western Iowa to Guttenberg. If you’d like to park in Orange City and have your car brought to Guttenberg during the weeklong ride find the details at https://www.mrcarshipper.com/ragbrai

- IF YOU ARE WITH BRANCEL CHARTER, CHOOSE THE SOUTH PARKING LOCATION. If you are bringing a non-standard size vehicle, you’ll have to purchase two spots or park in the North Lakeside Parking area and use the shuttles.
- IF YOU ARE WITH PORK BELLY CHARTER, CHOOSE THE NORTH LAKESIDE PARKING LOCATION.
- If you are not with Pork Belly charters, MORE THAN LIKELY, your charter will NOT be near north parking. Some charters will be near camping, others in the south part of town near south parking. If you want to sign up for parking, we’d recommend you choose SOUTH parking…or wait until you get an answer from your charter regarding where to park.

Club Teams:
- Please complete the Club/Team Parking Request and return NLT June 15 to request parking assistance for your club vehicles on Friday July 18, Saturday July 19 and/or Saturday July 26. IF YOU NEED HELP MORE THAN ONE DAY, please complete and submit a separate form for each. For example, some clubs want to be near camping on the first weekend and near parking on the second weekend. Or if you want to be at the same location both weekends tell us that and the preferred location. We will contact you with parking assignment and location by July 1. We’ll work hard to find a location where teams large and small can relax and meet up while avoiding the traffic tie-ups.
- Meuser Lumber Co. has generously provided space for long-term parking and team bus parking. Meuser’s IS open on Friday all day and Saturday until noon. Please respect that and park only in the areas designated by Guttenberg RAGBRAI so they can conduct business those days.
Camping:
- The main campground is free and is located north of the school and Lock & Dam #10 in River Side Park. There is a grassy area north of the Lock & Dam #10, an ideal location for a smaller group; however, campers must set up outside of the security fence – so if there would be a need, the fences could be closed without having to oust campers. We will be coordinating with clubs/teams and charter buses to bring buses to the camping area and/or move people to their pick up locations Saturday, July 19 morning. Campers are welcome to camp in Guttenberg again on Saturday, July 26 if they’d like to spend a little more time enjoying our city.
- Valleyview Campground just north of Guttenberg off Hwy 52 is offering spots with and without electricity so you can park your RV/Camper there all week there for $250-275.
- Please do NOT set up camp on the Veteran’s Monument. In addition to disrespecting the monument, automatic sprinklers come on in the wee hours and you’ll get a cold shower reminder.
