 Another step in the community's preparation for RAGBRAI bike riders and visitors took place on Wednesday, July 9, at a training session for those who volunteered to help greet the thousands of people who are expected to arrive in Guttenberg over the next two weekends this month. The local RAGBRAI committee has announced the food and entertainment lineup when the first weekend of RAGBRAI visitors arrive in Guttenberg on Friday and Saturday, July 18-19.
There will be 1,000+ vehicles arriving in Guttenberg to park their vehicles for the week and board charter buses to Orange City in western Iowa where the ride begins on Sunday, July 20. On Friday, July 18, the 300-500 blocks of River Park Drive (Prince St. to Schiller St.) will be closed for entertainment from 3-10 p.m. to encourage RAGBRAI riders to stroll the downtown area and patronize local stores.
